From the Careers Desk

Next term students will be learning about subjects and courses available to them in 2018.

One option is to start a school-based apprenticeship (SBAT). Such 
apprenticeships allow students to begin training toward their chosen career while still at school. Click here to read more.

Generosity of spirit on show at ACK

During Monday's full school assembly, our VCAL students handed over cheques and presented gifts to Terry Cooney as he leaves to become principal of a new Catholic primary school in Wallan.

The money was raised during recent fundraising activities and will help the East Timorese and  fund cancer research.

Remar raises fund for East Timor

The Remar Red Caravel screened Hunt for the Wilderpeople for its Bring a Friend movie night in the Fourvière Centre last Tuesday.

Years 10, 11 and 12 students watched while enjoying popcorn and pizza, and afterwards mingled and danced. Click here to read more.

Easing the plight of Syrian refugees

With no end in sight to the civil war in Syria, thousands are fleeing the country and the plight of the refugees is truly shocking.

To help feed these displaced people and raise awareness of their situation, two Assumption students have signed up for the Act for Peace Ration Challenge. Click here to read more.

On any given night in Australia one in 200 men, women and children sleep in the open. 


We invite year 7-12 students to join our campaign to raise awareness of homelessness by sleeping out in the Gonz on Friday, August 25 from 6.30pm until 8am Saturday.  
The night will showcase the many challenges the homeless face, from having a simple meal to sleeping rough with basic bedding. There’ll be a movie, a guest speaker, activities and more.

What to bring: sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, warm clothes and a good attitude.
Snacks are not permitted. Registration fee is $10 and can be paid on this TryBooking link: https://www.trybooking.com/QTIG.  All proceeds to Vinnies Winter Appeal.


A Whimsical Winter Christmas

You're invited to a Whimsical Winter Christmas on August 9. It promises to be an evening of fun, laughter and Christmas spirit, featuring a traditional three-course dinner, a complimentary drink and entertainment.

The 61st ACK-SHC Exchange

As we prepare for this annual sporting and cultural event we are looking for families prepared to offer accommodation to one or more of our visitors from 18 to 20 August. Click here to read more.

CLC Dressage Day results 

Assumption's equestrian team travelled to Catholic Ladies' College Dressage Day at Hurstbridge on Saturday, June 18.

Equestrian captain Madeleine Manton competed on Wyann Mercedes in the Preliminary Senior section and placed 2nd in the first dressage test and 2nd in the next. Click here to read more.
